Some of my closest girl friends (over 20 years) and I have kept the girl trips alive and thriving the last few years. I posted about our trip to Salem/Boston here, and how much we love the fall season. So true to form we planned another trip in the fall last year again and what better place to go than North Carolina. It was peak season to see all the ombre of fall colors and we were spoiled with great weather, good food, and beautiful scenery.
Where we Stayed:
Where we stayed was Wildberry Lodge. A couple of notes on this. The location is ~15 minutes from downtown Asheville and it absolutely stunning; however, it is very remote and you have to drive up a very steep hill on a rocky road which did not make it ideal when returning at night. Also we didn't get to take full advantage of this location because we had a full itinerary and did not get much exploring or taking in the views except in the morning before we took off to town. So if you are going with your family or just you and your spouse/partner I would highly recommend it; however, not for a group of girls in a remote location with a busy schedule.
Where we ate and what we did:
I did a bit of research on some of the best places to eat, which was something new to me since Amos usually is the one tasked with this, but being as this was a girls trip I took on the responsibility.
Day 1 - We arrived and walked around "South Slop Brewing District", where there are a ton of breweries, pastry shops, and restaurants. We had lunch at Buxton Hall BBQ, then drinks at The Wicked Weed Funkatorium; a fun place with a beautiful atmosphere and fun drinks. The have both wine, beer, and mixed drinks. We finished off the day and had dinner at Cultura, the food was great, the interior cool with all the greenery, and the bathroom super fun with colors and black light effects.

Day 2 - We had breakfast at Wildberry Farms, which is one of their staples. I will say they are super friendly, everything is fresh, and it is multiple "courses" so it was super nice to have that experience where we were staying. Then we headed off for a full day at
Biltmore Estate where we booked the interior and exterior (the gardens/grounds) tour. This was a highlight for me because y'all know I love all things house/interior decor related and this surpassed anything I could have imaged so get ready for picture overload below. The massive greenhouses were also breathtaking and I could have spent all day just on the grounds. We had lunch on the grounds; they had multiple options where they converted the old stables into shops and restaurants. Then we headed to downtown area again and had dinner at Cucina 24, you can never go wrong with good pasta and wine.
Day 3 - Our last full day we had breakfast at Biscuit Head a popular place that usually has a line/wait, which we did, but it was worth it and so good. Then we headed to drive up the Blue Ridge Parkway (just so happened to be the busiest weekend due to the greatest variance of leave colors) and got to the top and did a small hike and hung out a bit before we drove back down the mountain. This is another must if you are in the area the scenery is breath taking and something out of a movie. Then we headed to an "artsy" area for some coffee and walked around a bit. We headed back into the city center for shopping (I can't go somewhere without popping in a book store), had some wine and cheese, and our last dinner at The Admiral with a retro vibe and a good drink menu.

Day 4 - We stopped in Vortex Doughnuts, so fresh and good - another place expect to wait in a line, before we headed back to the airport to head out. It was an amazing trip and I can't wait to plan another one with these girls!
