Our Engagement/House Warming Party - Setting Up - Part 1 - Flowers

Hey Y'all! Life has been in the fast lane for Amos and I lately and with the holiday seasons rolling on in I see no real change in the pace, but on a lighter note, last weekend we threw our engagement/house warming party. It was a huge success and we had so much fun. All of our hard work and planning definitely paid off. We couldn't feel more blessed by the amazing family and friends we have in our lives. Since so much went into the planning and setting up I thought I would break it up in a few post. I talked about the very initial stages of the planning process, here

New Silver Cart

Alright y'all my Marshalls Homegoods addiction continues. If I don't go into a Marshalls or TJ Maxx at least once a month I think I start to go through withdrawals. I have bought so many things there including a beautiful couch; I first talked about the couch when I was living in the loft here.  The couch is in our main living room in our current house, which you can see photos here. It is hard not to see a Homegoods product when looking at our home photos or past photos when in the loft

Well I have found another great find last week, a silver cart with wheels. I already have a bar cart in our house so I was kind of worried I was going a little overboard with the carts, but I knew I wanted something nice in the bedroom. So when I got home I placed the cart in our bedroom and moved it around to see where it would work best. Well where it worked best happened to be where I had my acrylic work station in the room; you can see it here. I never really used the space in the bedroom and while it looked pretty it wasn't really functional. We are fortunate enough to have this huge utility room with tons of counter space; where I have an older iMac and all my craft stuff stored so it wasn't like I was losing a work space. I ended up moving the acrylic table behind the couch in the formal living room, where I plan to put cute decorations on it for the fall holiday.

Below is what the final product looks like now. I am sure it will be updated as I get used to having it in the bedroom and as my Homegoods addiction continues. Hope y'all are finding goodies like I am.

A Newly Painted Front Door

Good morning y'all, I hope y'all had as much of a productive weekend as we did. Since we are having our engagement/house warming party coming up in the next few weeks I am trying to get all the little house to-do's complete. The first on the list was to paint our front door, which was a brown color. It was a little boring and compared to the other front doors on our street we knew we needed something different.

Flower Workshop @ Sugar and Cloth's Studio

Hey Y'all! This past weekend was filled with events, but by far my favorite was attending a flower workshop held in Sugar and Cloth's studio on Saturday with my mom; you can see her studio tour featured in Glitter Guide here. I had never attended anything like that before and it was so much fun and educational. I would totally do one again in a heart beat.

As soon as I walked in I felt like everything was straight out of a pretty white photo shoot surrounded by flowers. The styling was impeccable and everywhere I turned there was something beautiful to see.  The charm even continued to our seats where we had personalized aprons, styled of course with a simple flower and our own cutting shears.

The class was taught by Maria of Maxit Flower Design, I checked out her website before the class and was floored with how talented she is and I absolutely love her arrangements and style.

I am so glad I got to be a part of one of Sugar and Cloth's first events held at their studio and can't wait to see what else they will host in the near future.

Here are a few shots of some of my arrangement and my mom and me goofing around in the Smilebooth they had.

Chicago Lollapalooza 2013

Last year Amos and I went to Chicago for Lollapalooza and it was a blast. It was my first time ever in Chicago and it is such a beautiful city. My favorite part of the city was the weather and architecture. All the buildings looked like a painting to me. Living in the south means that we have pretty hot summers so it was a nice change for the weather to not be so humid and not be drenched in sweat; especially since we were spending the majority of our time outside.

Amos has a close friend who lives in Chicago and we met up with her and we went to a few of the hot local spots to eat. The best restaurant we went to was the Girl and Goat. We made our reservations months in advanced and it was well worth it. The menu was set up where you order a few small plates and share with the table, which was great since you wanted to try everything.

The food and buildings were all beautiful, but our main purpose of course was the music. We lucked out and had these amazing passes that allowed us to be backstage and go into private sitting areas with free alcohol. It was so laid back and I loved all the acts. There is a band for everyone and I love that about these huge festivals. We would love to go back again some time, but we have other festivals that are on the top of our list now; however, we wouldn't mind just going back to see more of the city. Here are a few pictures from our trip.
