Decorating for Christmas

Friday I was busy taking down my few Thanksgiving decorations and rearranging the living room furniture so that I can put the Christmas tree next to the mantel (Inspiration here). To see how the living room looked before you can see that here

Warm Fillings Before the Parade

My mother this year really wanted to go to the Thanksgiving parade hosted downtown, since it has been a very long time that we have all attended as a family. Well lately we have been getting some pretty cold temperatures in this part of the south. So I thought it would be a good idea, since I already live downtown, to invite my family over for some warm fillings before the parade and then walk on over. I didn't want to go overboard with the food since it was Thanksgiving day and we would all be chowing down on some turkey and stuffing later that evening. Our family is very diverse in their drink choices so I did an assortment of coffee, decaffeinated coffee, tea, hot chocolate, etc. and I added different sweeteners and creams. Well here are a few pictures of how I set up some of the items.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't go all out on Thanksgiving decorations this year like I usually do. I just spruced up the mantel a bit with fall leaves and pumpkins.

However, next year I am definitely doing this "Thankful Tree" idea I found on pinterest.

Since I didn't do one this year I thought I would still share some of the things that I am thankful for:

1. My Family & Friends
2. My Health
3. A Place to call Home
4. My Job
5. People and Things that make me Smile
6. Beautiful Things
7. Getting to see my Brother for the Holiday (He is in the Air Force)
8. Getting to spend time with my Grandparents
9. Meeting new People
10. Getting to share my love of decorating and pretty details on a personal blog

Hope y'all have a lovely day and a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Oops I Did it Again?

I just can't help myself with restyling the bar cart..again, especially with the holidays coming up. Once again Target has blown me away with Threshold's holiday collection.  The bar cart and fox mixer were mentioned in an older post here.  Most of the glasses, the cheers tumblers and the gold spotted ones, are part of the Threshold collection at Target.  The tray is one of Nate Berkus's designs, found here. The gold striped glasses can be found here. After Thanksgiving I might try to add a small piece of green garland for Christmas...we shall see though. Here are a few pics.

Thanksgiving Table Settings

I don't have a dining room area at my place so I get envious when I see beautiful place settings for the holidays on pinterest. I pin away though for inspiration for when I own a home with a dining space one day. I can't wait until I have the space to host holidays for family and friends, but in the mean time I hope you enjoy some of these ideas and beautiful table settings for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Closet Redo - Part 2

So I know it has been a while since I posted a sneak peak of the closet redo, but I thought I would share some of the after pics and the color choices.   I do not have any experience with wallpaper, buying or installing. So I felt a little overwhelmed with the wallpaper process. First of all let me just say wallpaper is not cheap. I was a little bumped out when I was initially searching for ideas and patterns when every pattern I really feel in love with ranged in prices from 100-200 dollars a roll, which one roll covers ~60 square feet. Well I searched and searched and finally I bought this white texture wallpaper found here, which was only 24 dollars a roll. I liked the idea that I could paint it or leave it just white. My usually style is very neutral and calm colors so I thought I would be bold and paint it a darker color. Well like doing most things for the first time there are mistakes and lessons learned, for instance I did not order enough rolls to cover the closet. With a pattern wallpaper, like I ordered, it required more cuts when you have to line up each section, therefore more cuts means more rolls required. So I order another two rolls and ended up having some to spare. As far as the actual installation part, we had a family member with experience come in and work his magic. Needless to say I am so happy with the way it turned out.

Mantel Love

When I first purchased my place I started going into design mode and what pieces I wanted and where. I knew I either wanted an armoire, a chunky cabinet piece, or a mantel to place the tv in/over in the living room. I was going a little crazy with what piece to get until my mom sent me a link for a mantel at a major department store (which I can't remember which one) for around 200 dollars. I loved the detail in it and thought it would be perfect.

Here is a picture of what the mantel looked like when I first purchased it around the fall holiday. The mantel is a tan brown color. I had a lot of different browns and tans pieces going on in the living room back then that clashed and as you will see a lot has changed over the years with the living room color and decor.
