Interior Improvements Moving to Exterior Improvements

It's been awhile since I have shared progress on our #1920sheightsbungalow. If you are new you can catch up on us buying and fixing up interior of the house here and why we decided to buy it here. The year 2020 was a big year where we got to tackle a lot of the interior aspects of our house and (slightly cornymyself, with the intellect and experience gained through and with the graduation from the dual master's programs at University of Houston. So this year I wanted to focus on all things exterior; below is a list of plans I have for the house, and for myself to really focus on personal health and fitness (which hasn't been a top priority as it should be as of late...).

For the exterior of the house the items we would like to tackle are:
  • Paint the exterior white - completed
  • Paint the window trim, top roof line trim, and bottom new trim black- completed
  • Replace lattice siding with a sleeker siding- completed
  • Widen front steps- completed
  • Add new porch lighting- completed
  • Add gooseneck garage lighting- completed
  • Re-stain front porch and steps- completed
  • Add front and side flower beds- completed
  • Remove front trees and replant- completed
  • Add front perimeter fence - See inspo. pic below
  • Clean up and fix up space behind garage- in progress
  • Remove old backyard deck
  • Add a pergola (one or two) See inspo. pic below

Here is what the house looked like when we bought it (Fall 2019).

Here is what the house looks like currently (May 2021). As you can see we have tackled a lot of the items on our list so far. The before and after looks are crazy to see side by side. We hope to get to some more of the items this year, especially the back yard and front perimeter fence. I am slowly adding more flowers and planting more to the flower beds.

We are currently working on the back space behind our garage, which is approximately 15' x 15' space. There are patches of grass/weeds and is a space that isn't being utilized as it should be. So I saw this picture below and loved it. I have bought the faux grass and large stones 24" x 24" (similar to below), but I still need to level the ground before I install the materials. I do love the idea of a fireplace and instead of an umbrella I would love something like the black metal pergola like the 2nd picture below.

Below is an inspiration photo of the type of fence we would like in the front yard. It would be closer to 4' in height though.

I can't not share some of the dream inspirations I have for the house that once again may not happen or if they did would be many many years down the road. #foreveradaydreamer
One of the things that would be nice is a small pool. Covid really showed how isolated one can be from everything and having a kiddo it, it would be so nice to have something small for our family. Below are some cool small pool inspirations.

I have to share again this inspiration photo if we every got to build onto our existing home. How beautiful is this home. Can you see how our home could easily (to me) be transformed into this...

Thank you again for following along and hope you all have enjoyed the progress of our home.
