Hey y'all, I got around to putting up Christmas decorations this past Sunday. I have a few more decorations to put up and others to rearrange, but for now I am happy to be able to decorate for Christmas for the first time in this house. We also had lights put up which it probably one of the best parts of my day when I pull up in the drive way; especially from a long day at work. Here are a few photos of what it looks like at the moment that I thought I would share with y'all, Enjoy!
Toms has teamed up with Target to produce this amazing line of clothes, shoes, accessories, and house hold goodies, see more here on the Target website. One of my close friends and I had to check it out this past Sunday, when it was first available in stores.
I will be the first to admit that I do not have a green thumb by any means. However, I absolutely love plants and flowers. I grew up where my dad planted anything and everything in our yard. I spend a many of afternoons helping him spread the soil over the newly planted flowers and adding on new flower beds to the endlessly growing yard. When I lived in the loft I had may run through of a few potted plants that just didn't make it. So I gave up for awhile and just bought real flowers to last a few weeks or stuck with the reliable fake plants.
As I have most of the items checked off the list for the front guest room: painted walls (and later ceiling), furniture, and new bedding...all check! Now is the fun part adding the decorative accents like art and lights. However, as much as this is the fun part it can also be overwhelming as well. There are sooo many pieces of art to choose from and I can get torn into what direction I want to go with. So I have been letting the room sit the way it is and get used to the layout and new colors and keeping my eye out on those few new pieces of art that will turn the room into a WOW room.
Well life has been pretty busy lately and so I haven't got to do any of the additional decorating in the front guest bedroom and the room has pretty much stayed the same since the last update. However, I did order a new duvet and pillow covers so I will fix up the bed this weekend. I also ordered a light for the hallway and as soon as that bad boy comes in I plan to have it installed and take the final hallway pictures I have been promising y'all. While I wait for the finishing touches I can't help but daydream about the other projects I want to do to the house.
The main room, which I have talked poor Amos's ear off, is the kitchen redo. Our kitchen isn't bad, the cabinets are really nice and I love the white so I wouldn't change the exterior. The bottom cabinets would be nice if they had drawer inserts so it made getting kitchen supplies out easier and make it more storage friendly. The big change I would make is converting the peninsula into an island and making it all counter height instead of bar height. I would also want to add additional storage on the backside of the island. Then I would want to replace the backsplash and countertops with something more in my color palette. A kitchen redo wouldn't be complete without adding a mini wine fridge. So I guess while I am getting other rooms together I will share some of my inspiration photos for the kitchen and continue to daydream until at least after the wedding before we can start our kitchen renovation.
Hey y'all! I had a really cool thing happen recently that I just had to share. As most of you have gathered based off of our massive book collection, you can see photos here, I loveeeeee reading. So when I got home after a nice weekend in Austin there in the mail was a book that was a prelease from one of my favorite authors, Sarah Addison Allen. I don't really know how this happened except that I follow her on Goodreads and I have read all of her books and just absolutely love all of them. If you are a avid reader or want to read more then I suggest this website. It is a great way to find recommendations based off your taste, it is like what Netflix is for movies, Goodreads is for books. You can even follow your favorite authors and friends and see what they are reading and suggest.
The last post I wrote talked about the progress we have been making on our house projects. I talked about the hallway and shared a few sneak peaks, now lets get to the front guest bedroom.
The front guest bedroom just had the finishing paint touch ups done on the trim and ceiling. I am going for the all white look to go with the velvet green headboard and black lacquer side tables. I have gotten a lot of great gold and black accents from Target, where I am still amazed at how much they continue to impress me with their Threshold and Nate Berkus collections. If y'all haven't seen the latest collection please go to your nearest Target now. I just picked up a few of these stools (here) for the house; way too cute!
Here is a glimpse of some inspiration photos I had for the guest bedroom.
This past weekend got us a step closer to finishing up the hallway and front guest bedroom. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen a few glimpses of the hallway painted up with trim and frames.
As Amos and I finish up painting our main hallway and the front guest bedroom I thought I would share what our other guestroom/office looks like at the moment. I quickly threw this room together so we would have something decent looking for the engagement party. This room is where we typically store furniture or extra stuff when we are trying to figure out a place to put it (that is when our garage or utility room is full). We also aren't planning on doing anything drastic to this room yet with the hopes of this being the nursery one day (a few more years until that happens though). So enough chit chat and on with the pictures, like I said this room was put together quickly and I would love to do more to it down the road, like remove the ugly orange lights on the ceiling fan, Yikes!
I didn't have the best pictures of the guest room in the house tour, it has been updated recently, however I thought I would share a whole post of what one of our guest room looks like right now. I call it the "Magnolia Room" because there are magnolia decorating accents and the room is in the front part of the house where one of the windows look out onto a magnolia tree in our front yard and magnolia's just happens to be one of Amos's and my favorite trees.
I was a little late putting up the Fall/Halloween decorations this year due to us having our engagement party at the end of September. I did not want to have the decorations clash with anything for the party so I waited...which was hard for me. I love fall decorations because they can be put up as early as September and last all the way to the end of November so you have a full three months of decorations.
